Literacy Programs Coordinator

Literacy in Action is looking for someone who is interested in organizing behind the scenes logistics of our programs and core services. The position will require you to work closely with LIA’s Executive Director (ED) and our communications and marketing team. The Literacy Programs Coordinator will coordinate with partners, teammates, animators, volunteers and to correspond with adult learners and families when appropriate.

We are a grassroots non-profit organization that is ever evolving. Our organizational culture is collaborative, feedback oriented and hands-on. We are decentralized by design, however we require co-working office days so our team can stay connected and in communication. (Note: this is not a remote job).

Fundamental Roles & Responsibilities:

 

✏️Coordinate programs and core services and associated orientations and training

✏️Oversee and coordinate program development and delivery 

✏️Coordinate volunteers and animators for programs and services

✏️Support special programs coordinator as needed

✏️Budget, track expenses and track important metrics 

✏️Organize animator and volunteer trainings

✏️Onboard volunteers and animators with ED and Operations Coordinators

✏️Participate in outreach events and kiosking for recruitment and visibility

✏️Represent LIA on committees when appropriate

✏️Advocate for the needs of English-speaking communities as needed

 

Tech requirements:

 

🌀Ability to use, or be ready to learn how to use GDrive, Canva, AirTable, Salesforce, and Google Calendar

🌀Proficiency in the use of computers for documents, basic finances, databases, spreadsheets, E-mail, graphic design (Canva), internet research, and social media outreach.

 

The successful candidate will meet Language Requirements:

  • Able to communicate in English and French 

    • Verbal 5/5  in English and ⅗ in French 

    • Written communication skills ⅘ English and ⅗  French

      • Open to practice and improve in both languages

 

Terms and conditions:

 

💵Contract position $25/hr (24 - 28 hours a week) TBD

🚗Access to a vehicle (gas will be reimbursed)
