HELP Research & Community Coordinator
Job Description
HELP Research & Community Coordinator

Project Statement:

H.E.L.P - Health Services English Language Program
Offered as a partnership between Literacy in Action and CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS. Our goal is to support health and social service workers who are learning English through an online course (Languages for Healthcare) offered by McGill university. Literacy in Action’s role is to recruit, train, and support volunteer tutors and design hands-on English language activities for the community of participants.

A fundamental element to HELP 2.0 is the introduction of a participatory action-based research component (PAR). The intention is to be able to better trace the impact, progress, and design of the program and our approach. PAR will be used to adapt the project over time to ensure it is sustainable and effective. Moreover, it will allow us to better understand and reflect the needs, capacity, and realities of both the learners (health care and social service workers) and the volunteer tutors (Anglophones and English-speakers from the community-at-large).
