Arts & Scraps
|
Arts & Scraps is a workshop series for adults and their families that explores all the awesome ways we can transform old stuff (scraps!) into works of art. It is a great way to spend time in community, learn new things and connect to our creative side. SIMPLE. FUN. FREE. No experience making art required. Workshops typically happen in Stanstead, Lennoxville and Bury. Yo's Top PICKS Our Arts & Scraps animator Yo has put together some of her favourite activities made from scraps and nature that you can try out at home. PLUS!! A few ways to make your own supplies. Meant for adults and teenagers, we have a host of games to choose from, ranging from old classics like Scrabble and card games to contemporary role games. Often, more than one game is played, so participants can choose depending on their mood which table they want to join. Feel free to bring your favorite game! Snacks and drinks are on the house. |
Family Literacy Week
|
Once a year, in January, we hold a series of activities as part of the national Family Literacy Week.
This usually includes a storytelling evening and a family oriented Arts & Scraps session, among other things. These are great occasions to get out of the house with the kids while sparking their pre-literacy skills and getting some handy take-home tips to keep them constructively occupied. Not to mention, it is a great place to meet other local parents, in an English-speaking environment. Additional perks include hot chocolate, giveaways, and free snacks! |
